HC Deb 11 November 1982 vol 31 cc258-9W
Mr. Tilley

asked the Minister for the Civil Service, if he will list the workplace nurseries which have been set up by Government Departments for their employees since 1970; and which of them are still in use.

Mr. Hayhoe

A purpose-built nursery for the use of civil servants was opened at Llanishen in 1973 as an experiment. It was closed in 1978 because of a drop in demand combined with the high running costs. Plans for a second project in Croydon were then abandoned and no others have since been set up by Government Departments for their employees.
