HC Deb 11 November 1982 vol 31 cc265-6W
Mrs. Dunwoody

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether it is his policy that information on general practitioners held by the Prescription Pricing Authority is not sold to private individuals or companies.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

Our policy is that no information about an individual general practitioner should be made available to private individuals or companies without the practitioner's consent. We are consulting interested parties on a recommendation that we should sell analyses of prescribing on a national basis, or broken down by geographical area, but we have made clear that to protect confidentiality, only aggregated information would be made available.
