HC Deb 11 November 1982 vol 31 cc245-6W
36. Mr. Heddle

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will increase the mortgage interest tax relief threshold.

Mr. Ridley

I have nothing to add to the reply I gave my hon. Friend on 28 October—[Vol. 29, c.525.]

40. Mr. Shersby

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer when the present limit of £25,000 on mortgages for tax relief purposes was fixed; and if he will review the limit.

Mr. Ridley

The present limit was fixed in 1974. On the question of reviewing the limit, I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply given to my hon. Friend the Member for Lichfield and Tamworth (Mr. Heddle) on 28 October.—[Vol. 29, c.525.]
