HC Deb 11 November 1982 vol 31 c220W
Mr. Crowther

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he proposes to take steps to test public opinion on the possibility of changes in the legislation governing the opening hours of licensed premises.

Mr. Raison

The publication issued by the Health Departments in 1981 entitled "Drinking Sensibly" was designed to promote informed public discussion about various aspects of the misuse of alcohol including the role of legislative control. We keep in touch with the response to that document and also with opinion expressed in Parliament in various ways. We have no plans for any further testing of opinion or for legislation on this subject.
