HC Deb 11 November 1982 vol 31 c248W
52. Mr. Hicks

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he is satisfied with the current level of capital investment in the United Kingdom; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Wakeham

The Industry Act forecast estimate is that total fixed investment in 1982 will be 3 per cent. higher than in the previous year. Looking ahead, the forecast suggests that, with higher output growth, lower inflation and interest rates, fixed investment should increase by 5 per cent. in 1983.
