§ Mr. Watsonasked the Lord Privy Seal what aid is being given to the Government of Ethiopia.
§ Mr. Neil MartenThe only United Kingdom aid currently being given to Ethiopia from the bilateral programme represents the completion of existing commitments; expenditure in 1981–82 is estimated at £4,000. In addition, we have for humanitarian reasons supplied 1,500 tonnes of cereals—worth approximately £180,000—from that part of our food aid programme allocated directly to developing countries. Ethiopia also indirectly receives aid from the United Kingdom through various multilateral channels—such as the European Community, the World Bank and the World Food Programme.
