Whether Security Council Resolution 242 of November 1967 is still regarded as valid and binding, following the annexation by Israel of the Golan Heights part of occupied Syria.
§ Lord TrefgarneSecurity Council Resolution 242, which Her Majesty's Government still regard as valid, emphasises the inadmissibility of the acquisition of territory by war. Israel's extension of its law, jurisdiction and administration to the Golan Heights therefore appears to be contrary to this resolution, and is profoundly unhelpful to the cause of peace.
