HC Deb 02 March 1982 vol 19 c111W
Sir Anthony Kershaw

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he has any estimate available of (a) the loss of revenue as a result of classifying riding horses as agricultural animals and (b) the increase in revenue as a result of increased ownership of riding horses classified as agricultural animals.

Mr. Ridley

Riding horses would not normally be classified as agricultural animals. Stud farmers are able to claim stock relief on the value of horses held as trading stock but no estimates are available of the amount of relief claimed.
