§ Mr. Michael McNair-Wilsonasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer, pursuant to the speech of the Under-Secretary of State for the Armed Forces on 9 February, Official Report, c. 953–54, in what circumstances Treasury records were lost relating to the money paid into the Treasury in 1950 which represented the money held back from salaries of officer prisoners of war.
§ Mr. Bruce-GardyneTreasury records have not been lost. The only specific records which can be identified covering payments into the Treasury refer to special receipts in the Appropriation Account, Air Services, 1950–51. These papers are available for inspection at the Public Record Office. Other general papers have also been deposited at the Public Record Office, or will be made public in due course, in accordance with the 30-year rule.
