§ Sir Ian Gilmourasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he has yet reached a decision on the representations of the right hon. Member for Chesham and Amersham about the conviction of Mr. Bernard Brian Saltman.
§ Mr. WhitelawFollowing the receipt and examination of new evidence about the circumstances of Mr. Saltman's conviction, I have referred the case to the Court of Appeal (Criminal Division) under section 17(1)(a) of the Criminal Appeal Act 1968, This means that the court will now determine the matter as if the appeal had been made by Mr. Saltman himself.
