HC Deb 23 June 1982 vol 26 c138W
Mr. Lyell

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what representations he has received about the operation of the Mobile Homes Act and pressing for renewed and revised legislation for the protection of mobile home owners and a fair arrangement between the interests of home owners and site operators.

Sir George Young

My Department issued a consultation paper on 4 February inviting views on what action the Government should take to protect the position of people whose agreements under the Mobile Homes Act 1975 will begin to run out at the end of 1983. We received a substantial number of responses in favour of further mobile homes legislation, from the national organisations representing site operators and residents, from nearly 100 individual residents, from individual site operators, from a number of Members of Parliament, and from a range of pressure groups and professional bodies. The responses varied in their views on what form legislation should take.

We are now giving further consideration to the Government's legislative proposals in the light of the representations we have received.
