§ Sir Bernard Braineasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether, in view of the large number of accidents involving children, he will amend the building regulations to require toughened or laminated glass to be used in place of annealed glass in doors and windows in risk areas.
§ Sir George YoungMy right hon. Friend is carrying out a major review of the building regulations. As part of that review, my hon. Friend the Minister for Housing and Construction announced last month a wide-ranging public consultation on both the form and the content of the regulations. This will enable us to consider fully the arguments for and against extending them to apply to glazing.
