HC Deb 08 June 1982 vol 25 c26W
Mr. Teddy Taylor

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will publish a table showing the current levies, where possible in pence per pound, charged on imported foodstuffs in consequence of the common agricultural policy arrangements; and to what extent these variable amounts had to be altered on the day the latest farm price review came into effect.

Mr. Buchanan-Smith

Levy changes resulting from the price fixing have so far applied only to milk and beef. They will apply to the remaining commodities at the start of their respective marketing years.

The attached table shows the levies applicable immediately before the price fixing and those currently applicable for the United Kingdom:

little change to the estimates I then made in the light of the actual settlement, though the additional effect on the price of butter, allowing for continuation of the consumer subsidy, is estimated at 1½p/lb.
