HC Deb 08 June 1982 vol 25 cc25-6W
Mr. Teddy Taylor

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make a statement outlining the extent to which prices of foodstuffs, by individual commodity, will increase at the retail level as a direct consequence of the recent farm price review.

Mr. Peter Walker

In my reply to my hon. Friend on 1 March 1982 about the effect on retail prices of the then current proposals of the Commission if there were no revaluation of the green pound, I explained that common agricultural policy support prices were only one of many factors affecting retail prices and that only a general indication of their effect was therefore possible. There is

threshold. Decisions were also taken on the introduction of obligatory early season distillation of wine at low prices in years of heavy surplus.
