Mr. Eggar

asked the Minister for the Civil Service if she will list in tabular form the number of compulsory redundancies that have occurred in each Department of State since 1 April 1979; and if she will express these numbers as a percentage of (a) total reductions achieved and (b) the strength as at April 1979.

Figures for staff in the industrial grades in the Civil Service are not held centrally. The figures for premature retirements on grounds of redundancy in the non-industrial grades are given in the following table:
