§ Mr. Pawseyasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department why he has reduced the size of the Bookmakers Committee and, in particular, the number of seats held by the National Association of Bookmakers in view of the fact that the representation of the Betting Office Licensees' Association has remained unchanged.
§ Mr. WhitelawI am consulting organisations representing bookmakers about proposals calculated to secure a better balance of bookmaking interests on the Bookmakers' Committee and to reduce its size, so that it may operate more effectively; but I have not yet reached any decision.
