HC Deb 30 July 1982 vol 28 cc767-8W
Mr. Hill

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will bring forward a scheme to aid the unemployed aged 40 years and over; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Alison

My right hon. Friend has no plans at present to introduce a special employment scheme for people in this group, but help is already available to them from a number of the services and programmes operated by my Department and the Manpower Services Commission. And, of course, they will be able to benefit from the two new employment measures which were announced by my right hon. and learned Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer in the House on 27 July.
