§ Mr. SproatUnder the Merchant Shipping Act 1894 the management of lighthouses, other than local lighthouses, and other navigational aids in the seas around Ireland is vested in the Commissioners of Irish Lights. The expenses of the commissioners are met from the general lighthouse fund, the income for which is derived from light dues paid by ships calling at United Kingdom and Irish ports.
