HC Deb 29 July 1982 vol 28 c670W
Mr. Terry Davis

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how often the haematology laboratory at Derby City hospital has been used for tests on specimens from cats, dogs, cows and horses during the last two years; how many veterinary practices were involved; and who authorised National Health Service facilities to be used for such tests.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

No such tests are now carried out at Derby city hospital. Statistics about tests performed in the past were not collected centrally and the hon. Member may wish to approach the Southern Derbyshire health authority which may have the information.

The powers to provide services of this kind in NHS hospitals are provided in section 58 of the National Health Service Act 1977.
