Mr. Rooker

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many times Her Majesty's Inspector of Explosives visited IMI Ltd., Witton, Birmingham, in 1982; and on what dates.

Mr. Waddington

During 1982 Her Majesty's inspectors of explosives have paid visits to the licensed explosves factory occupied by IMI Ltd. at Witton on 4 and 5 February and 6 and 7 May. An inspector is making a third visit at this time.

Mr. Rooker

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if Her Majesty's inspector of explosives has yet been informed by IMI Ltd., Witton, Birmingham of the proposal to cease to maintain a site fire brigade; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Waddington

Discussions are at present taking place between one of Her Majesty's inspectors of explosives and IMI Ltd., Witton on its proposal to disband the fire brigade maintained by the company at its Birmingham factory.
