HC Deb 28 July 1982 vol 28 c582W
35. Mr. Gordon Wilson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what steps he proposes to take to rebuild the local economy of Dundee.

Mr. Alexander Fletcher

As a special development area, Dundee qualifies for maximum Government assistance and for the full range of European regional grants. The Scottish Development Agency is giving the Dundee area a high degree of priority: the area is already benefiting from the initiative in the Blackness area and the proposed £39 million project for the waterfront on which the agency will co-operate with the local authorities and the private sector will give a further boost to the local economy.
