asked the Minister for Trade (1) what is the total value of British investments in the Republic of South Africa;

(2) what is the total value of British investments in Nigeria.

The available information relates only to overseas direct investment. The latest figures, in respect of the end of 1978, are published in table 1 ofBusiness Monitor MA4, 1978 supplement, "Census of Overseas Assets 1978", a copy of which is in the Library.
