HC Deb 06 July 1982 vol 27 c70W
25. Mr. Maclennan

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what steps he proposes to take to increase the opportunities for young people to obtain long-term recognised skill training.

Mr. Peter Morrison

From September 1983 the youth training scheme will provide up to 460,000 young people with a one year integrated course including training, further education and work experience which will provide a foundation for the long-term skill training that many of them will subsequently go on to undertake. This year we are supporting a total of about 35,000 apprentices and we intend to maintain this high level of support over the corning training year.
