HC Deb 06 July 1982 vol 27 cc107-8W
Mr. Cryer

asked the Secretary of State for. Transport what criteria will be adopted in deciding the sale price of houses in the Stockbridge area currently owned by his Department; and if he will make a statement.

Mrs. Chalker

The main factors which will decide the selling price of the Department's houses in the Stockbridge area will be the market value of the properties and the existence of a sitting tenant.

On the general question of the disposal of the properties, I refer the hon. Member to the Department's letter of 24 June.

Mr. Cryer

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make available further assistance, such as grant-aid for private street works, to mitigate the effect of planning blight on houses in the Stockbridge area of Keighley, now that the Airedale trunk road route has been decided.

Mrs. Chalker

Discussions have been resumed with West Yorkshire metropolitan county council to consider the streetworks necessary in the Stockbridge area. The Department has agreed to make a contribution to the cost of these works.

Mr. Cryer

asked the Secretary of State for Transport how many houses in the Stockbridge area of Keighley are owned by his Department; and how many have already been sold following the decision on the Airedale trunk road.

Mrs. Chalker

The Department owns 51 houses in the Stockbridge area which will now be offered for sale. None have yet been sold.
