asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement on his recent official visit to Merseyside.

I visited Merseyside on 25 June. I met a group of head teachers from the Liverpool 8 area. I officially opened the New Atlantic Newsroom at the Corn Exchange, Liverpool, and attended part of the AGM of COMTECHSA. I toured the Cantril Farm housing estate and met officials of Knowsley borough council. I also took part in a Radio City broadcast and met some Liverpool city councillors.
