Mr. Austin Mitchell

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will publish in the Official Report a table showing the United Kingdom contribution to date to the European investment bank and the loans by the bank to each of the countries in the United Kingdom in each of the past three years.

The capital subscriptions of each member State of the European Community to the European investment bank and loans granted by the bank for projects in each member State are set out in the EIB's annual reports and press releases. The United Kingdom's paid-up subscription currently stands at some 173 million ecus—approximately £90 million. Details of the loans to each of the countries in the United Kingdom in each of the past three years are as follows:
