HC Deb 06 July 1982 vol 27 c75W
Mr. John Grant

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many disabled people are currently assisted by the community enterprise programme; what special provision is made to place disabled people on community enterprise programme projects; and what monitoring of disabled people's community enterprise programme involvement is maintained.

Mr. Alison

Precise information on the number of disabled people currently being assisted by the community enterprise programme is not available. However, it is estimated that approximately 4 per cent. of participants on the programme are registered disabled persons.

No special provision is made to place disabled people on community enterprise programme projects although the eligibility conditions for recruitment have been relaxed to allow a greater number of them to come within the scope of the programme.

The community enterprise programme provides temporary employment opportunities which are open to all long-term unemployed people. No special provision is made for specific groups within the long-term unemployed, nor is special monitoring maintained for specific groups.
