§ Mr. Hannamasked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) what consideration his Department has been giving to medical assessments for attendance allowance and mobility allowance; what representations he has received from voluntary organisations; and if he will make a statement;
(2) what consideration his Department has been giving to the revision of forms and leaflets used by his Department relating to benefits for disabled people; what representations he has received from voluntary organisations; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. RossiThe National Council for Voluntary Organisations has represented to me the desirability of having a single medical examination, where possible, for various disability benefits and of simplifying our forms and leaflets for those benefits. Our officials have been24W considering these questions with representatives of the national council and members of the medical profession, and I shall be meeting the national council for a discussion of the conclusions of this work in a few weeks' time. Forms for the disabled will also be included in the wide ranging review of forms that the Department is beginning.
