HC Deb 18 January 1982 vol 16 cc8-9W
Mr. Cook

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what is his latest estimate of oil consumption per head of population in the United Kingdom for 1981; and what is his estimate of the oil consumption per head of population in 1990 and 2000, assuming that (a) the United Kingdom's consumption as a fraction of oil consumption remains constant and (b) the United Kingdom's consumption per head is the world average per head of consumption.

Mr. Gray

It is estimated that United Kingdom oil consumption will be between 1.33 and 1.37 tonnes per head in 1981. Estimates of future United Kingdom and world oil consumption rates are not available.
