HC Deb 18 January 1982 vol 16 c25W
Sir John Biggs-Davison

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what consideration has been given to displaying Royal Arms, Royal Cipher or other Crown emblem at the entrance to the new Home Office in Petty France; and what is the current practice of his Department in such circumstances.

Sir George Young

The current policy is to show the Royal Cipher on all new permanent Government buildings which serve the public directly. The headquarters buildings of Government Departments are not normally open to the public, and name plates are used to identify the occupying department.
