HC Deb 18 January 1982 vol 16 c11W
Mr. McCrindle

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what was the total number of fines imposed by the courts in 1980; and how many remained unpaid at the end of 1981.

Mr. Mayhew

In 1980, about 1, 911, 000 offenders were fined for their principal offence; details are published in tables S4.4(a) and S4.4(b) of "Criminal Statistics, England and Wales, Supplementary tables 1980, Vol. 4", a copy of which is in the Library of the House. Information on the number of fines unpaid at the end of 1981 is not available.
