HC Deb 24 February 1982 vol 18 c407W
Mr. Shersby

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what was the total number of working days lost in 1981 due to industrial stoppages; and how this figure compares with previous years.

Mr. Waddington

The provisional number of working days lost in industrial stoppages recorded in 1981 is 4.2 million. This is less than a third of the annual average of 13 million over the previous 10 years and, with the exception of 1976, the lowest figure for any year since 1967.
