HC Deb 18 February 1982 vol 18 c199W
Mr. Ifor Davies

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what was the total number of foreign doctors who came into the United Kingdom in 1981; and how many of them were given full registration.

Dr. Vaughan

I regret figures in the form requested are not available. However, in the 12 months from 1 October 1979 to 30 September 1980 it is estimated that 1,800 civilian doctors born outside the United Kingdom and Irish Republic entered Great Britain with full or provisional registration; this figure excludes those doctors who obtained limited registration or who stayed less than a year and is subject to amendment as more information becomes available.
