§ 25. Mr. Nicholas Wintertonasked the Secretary of State for Transport whether he will seek to legislate to remove responsibility for London Transport from the Greater London Council.
§ Mr. David HowellThe Select Committee on Transport is considering the arrangements for transport in London and I shall consider any recommendations it makes very carefully. In the meantime the first priority is for the GLC to put the finances of London's transport system back on to a stable basis. If it failed to do so I should have to consider what further action was needed.
