HC Deb 09 February 1982 vol 17 cc335-6W
31. Mr. Kilroy-Silk

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many persons at each of the four special hospitals were awaiting transfer to National Health Service hospitals at the latest available date; and when he expects the transfer to take place.

Mr. Geoffrey Finsberg

On 31 December 1981, 16 patients in Broadmoor hospital, 120 in Rampton hospital, 42 in Moss Side hospital and seven in Park Lane hospital were awaiting transfer. These transfers will take place as soon as the appropriate health authorities can make suitable hospital beds available.

The transfer of patients from special hospitals is a continuing process and our aim is to keep to a minimum the length of time a patient must wait after it has been decided that he is ready for transfer.
