HC Deb 22 December 1982 vol 34 c534W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Industry if, in view of its implications for employment in the Bristol area, he will oppose the proposals from the Common Market Commission concerning the restructuring of the zinc industry.

Mr. MacGregor

I take it that the hon. Member is referring to proposals submitted by the European zinc producers to the European Commission. It is for the company concerned to assess its future prospects against the background of substantial over-capacity in the European zinc smelting industry and the fact that it has been incurring substantial losses.
