HL Deb 22 December 1982 vol 437 cc1160-1WA
Lord Chelwood

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they are considering making private treaty sales of land of scientific and scenic importance more attractive to vendors by adding to the list of eligible bodies to which sales attracting the douceur can be made, certain carefully selected nongovernmental organisations.

The Secretary of State for Trade (Lord Cockfield)

The Government consider that the nature of the tax reliefs conferred by paragraph 12 is such that they should not be extended to additional bodies outside the public sector.
