Mr. Peter Bottomley

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will list all non-statutory bodies to which his Department has made grants for 1981–82 and 1982–83 showing the name of the organisation, the amount of grant and the powers under which the grant is made; and if he will give similar information for grant-aid by other statutory bodies for which his Department is responsible.

In addition, £1,653,298.66 was paid in 1981–82 and £1,708,083.31 has been paid in 1982–83 to 26 committees of voluntary managed probation and bail hostels.

Details of the organisations receiving grants from the Commission for Racial Equality and the Equal Opportunities Commission under sections 44 and 45 of the Race Relations Act 1976 and section 54 of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975 are published in the commissions' annual reports. Expenditure by the CRE in 1981–82 on grants totalled £3.846 million; estimated expenditure in 1982–83 is £4.025 million. Expenditure by the EOC totalled £290,000 in 1981–82; estimated expenditure in 1982–83 is £248,000.
