§ 24. Mr. Douglasasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will nake a statement on the anticipated intake of apprentices in 1983 by engineering employers in Scotland.
§ Mr. Alexander FletcherEngineering employers in Scotland within the scope of the engineering industry training board recruited 929 apprentices during the training year from 1 September 1982 to date. The board expects that there will be a small intake of additional apprentices in the new year, bringing the total number of engineering apprentices recruited in Scotland during the 1982–83 training year to about 1,000. From September 1983 young people taken on as apprentices will be eligible for support under the new youth training scheme.
