§ 35. Mr. Lennox-Boydasked the Minister for Trade if he will make a statement on the current balance of trade between the United Kingdom and the rest of the European Economic Community in (a) manufactures and services and (b) oil.
§ Mr. Peter ReesFor January to October this year there was a crude deficit of £4.1 billion on trade in manufactures and a crude surplus of £3.7 billion on trade in oil with the other countries of the European Community. Information on services is not compiled on a quarterly basis and so it is not available for 1982.
However, for 1981 there was a crude deficit of £3.0 billion on United Kingdom trade in manufactures, a surplus of £0.2 billion on United Kingdom trade in non-Government services and a crude surplus of £3.7 billion on trade in oil with the other countries of the European Community.
