HC Deb 03 December 1982 vol 33 cc321-2W
Mr. Charles R. Morris

asked the Secretary of State for Industry whether he will use his powers of direction in the interests of national security to require the Post Office to install devices to detect explosives planted in mail by terrorists; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Butcher

No. The Post Office is already fully aware of the problem and is reviewing its measures in the light of recent incidents. The right hon. Gentleman would not, of course, expect me to comment in detail on what these measures comprise.
