HL Deb 02 August 1982 vol 434 c677WA
Lord Avebury

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many persons applied to the British Interests Section, Tehran, for visas to enter the United Kingdom in the first six months of 1982, and how many letters to inquiries on entry to the United Kingdom were sent through or by the section during this period.

Lord Belstead

Because of limitations on staff the British Interests Section, Tehran are not able to keep records of the total number of visa inquiries received. Most of these are dealt with by telephone rather than letter. The section have issued approximately 1,000 visas in the first six months of 1982.
