HL Deb 02 August 1982 vol 434 c659WA
Lord Houghton of Sowerby

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether it is still their intention to introduce legislation on experiments on live animals in the lifetime of the present Parliament.

Lord Elton

It remains the Government's intention to improve and modernise the Cruelty to Animals Act 1876 when final agreement has been reached on the draft Council of Europe convention on this subject and parliamentary time permits.
