§ 21. Mr. McNallyasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will review, in consultation with the Sports Council, the prospects for ensuring a better geographic spread of national centres for various sports which are supported in part from public funds.
§ Mr. MacfarlaneIt is current Sports Council policy to see that the widest possible spread of national facilities throughout England and Wales is encouraged. I endorse this strategy fully. There are national scale facilities located throughout the United Kingdom, and the six national sports centres of the Sports Council are in London, Nottinghamshire, Buckinghamshire, the Isle of Wight, North Wales and Shropshire.
