asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what has been the annual cost, in constant price terms, of running the Serpentine lido for each year since 1970.

Mr. Macfarlane

The options embrace retention of the lido but with reduced facilities; total or partial closure but recognising special arrangements for the Serpentine swimming club; and prohibition of swimming.
