HC Deb 29 October 1981 vol 10 c436W

Mr. Craigen asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what representations he has received from amateur sporting organisations in Scotland concerning rates relief on their premises by means of extending charitable status to such bodies; and if he will review the rating position of these bodies.

Mr. Rifkind:

My right hon. Friend has not received any representations from amateur sporting organisations as such. He is reviewing the operation of the provisions under which discretionary rating relief can be granted, following the undertaking to the First Scottish Standing Committee on 22 January 1981, column 137.
