HC Deb 29 October 1981 vol 10 c412W

Mr. Dormand asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, further to the reply of the right hon. Member for Gloucester (Mrs. Oppenheim) 29 June, c. 564, Official Report, what contribution his Department has secured from the television industry towards indigenuous film production for the cinema.

Mr. Mayhew:

As regards the BBC, I refer the hon. Gentleman to my reply of today's date to a question from the hon. Member for Crewe (Mrs. Dunwoody) and to the description of the BBC's seed money scheme in the fourth report of the Interim Action Committee on the Film Industry—Cmnd. 8227. That report also referred to the increased activity by the ITV companies in film production in recent years. The companies make a contribution to the finances of the National Film School.
