§ Mr. James Lamondasked the Secretary of State for Employment (1) how many applications have been received for compensation under the Pneumoconiosis, &c. (Workers' Compensation) Act 1979, at the latest available date for each category of dust-induced industrial disease, both as respects the sufferers and dependants;
(2) if he will give the numbers of claims granted, refused and pending for each category of dust-induced diseases under the Pneumoconiosis &c. (Workers' Compensation) Act 1979 at the latest available date, together with the total value of the compensation paid under the scheme as a whole.
§ Mr. Waddington:Up to 2 October, a total of 5,111 applications had been received, of which 3,802 were from sufferers and 1,309 from dependants of deceased sufferers. The available breakdown of those applications is as follows:
