HC Deb 28 October 1981 vol 10 c391W
31. Mr. Kenneth Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he intends to pay another visit to Liverpool.

Mr. Heseltine:

I visited Merseyside on 20 and 21, and on 26 and 27 October. I have held meetings with local authorities, representatives of local companies, academic institutions, community enterprise projects, and the regional water authority. I discussed the progress being made on the initiatives I announced on 5 August, and how best to carry forward the work of my task force. As well as Liverpool, I have visited Ellesmere Port, Skelmersdale and Halton to see examples of successes in improving the local economy and local environment as will as some of the problems. I intend to visit Merseyside frequently.
