Mr. Concannon

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many people are currently employed by the De Lorean motor company at the Dunmurry factory in County Antrim; how many were employed there at this time in 1980; and what is the projected increase in recruitment for the next 12 months.

Mr. Adam Butler:

I am informed by the company that at 26 October 1981 De Lorean Motor Cars Ltd. had 2,557 direct employees on its payroll; in addition, 76 jobs are provided on site at Dunmurry by contracted canteen and security companies. At 31 October 1980 De Lorean Motor Cars Ltd. had 440 direct employees. I understand that the company's current plan calls for recruitment of 138 further employees but, as many of these are specialist jobs, availability will dictate the dates of recruitment.

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will list in the Official Report the names and location of companies in the United Kingdom which supply parts, materials and services to the De Lorean motor company in Northern Ireland.

Mr. Adam Butler:

I am informed by the company that more than 2,000 companies located in the United Kingdom supply materials, components and services to De Lorean Motor Cars Ltd. It would be impracticable to list all of them in the Official Report but I am informed that the principal suppliers in Great Britain and Northern Ireland are:

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what is the current wages bill of the De Lorean motor company.

Mr. Adam Butler:

I am informed by the company that the annualised gross wages and salaries bill for the present labour force is estimated to be about £17 million, based on current average earnings.

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what is the total tax and national insurance bill of the work force at De Lorean and of the De Lorean motor company of Dunmurry, County Amtrim, Northern Ireland.

Mr. Adam Butler:

I am informed by the company that the annualised total amount which would be payable in respect of employers and employees National Health Insurance contributions and PAYE tax is estimated at £6.3 million based on current numbers employed and existing rates of remuneration.

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what are the current daily and weekly production figures of the De Lorean motor car.

Mr. Adam Butler:

I am informed by the company that the average daily and weekly production figures are approximately 80 cars and 400 cars respectively.
